Finding a job in Denmark as an international
Denmark has a strong, open labour market, and many roles are within reach even if you don't speak Danish yet. Here's how to approach your job search as an international.
Do you need to speak Danish?
It depends on the field. Tech, research, engineering, life science and many international companies operate in English. For most other roles some Danish helps a lot — and learning it widens your options considerably. Be honest about your level on your CV.
Where to look
Start with Jobindex and the public Jobnet, but don't stop there: many roles live only on company career pages or are filled through networking and LinkedIn. Filtering for English-language roles can help. See our overview of the best job sites in Denmark.
CV and application norms
Danish CVs are short (one to two pages), results-focused and tailored to each role. A cover letter is usually expected. Mirror the wording of the job ad — honestly — so both recruiters and applicant-tracking systems see the fit.
Work permits, in brief
EU/EEA citizens can work freely. Non-EU citizens generally need a residence and work permit; schemes like the Positive List and the Pay Limit scheme are common routes. Always check the official rules at nyidanmark.dk for your situation.
